I have this bible app on my phone that gives a verse of the day. I got this a week ago and it came back to my forethought this week after listening to all the experts and pundits discuss various matters in the world. And it dawned on me that most of these so-called experts are a bunch of hot air.
.
Solomon was so wise that he blessed us by documenting his wisdom in Proverbs. The verse above talks about restraint, knowledge and understanding.
.
In my mind, I believe Solomon was trying to convey the concept that less is more when it comes to vocalizing your thoughts. In fact, he metaphorically states that even a fool seems wise if he keeps silent. Indicating that silence can be a great tool of deception.
.
Simply listening and nodding your head as if you understand or empathize vs. interjecting your unwanted and probably unnecessary opinion.
.
So the next time you feel the need to go on a long diatribe about whatever topic, remember Solomon’s words about restraint and holding one’s tongue….
