Endure

Bible Verse: 1 Peter 2: 18 - 19

For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God. But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God.

JMR's Words Of Wisdom

Peter makes a profound statement here about enduring pain and long suffering. First, he talks about it being commendable to “bear up” against pain and suffering if a man is conscious of God. I think he speaks about being rebuked for your belief in God and being able to withstand the naysayers and still hold your ground.
.
Then Peter in his wisdom says why or how could a man gain any credit for enduring pain, if he has done wrong. The first thing I thought about was how you hear some men almost brag about the fact that they just “endured” a 3 or 5 year bid. It’s as if it’s a badge of honor.
.
Peter basically says that you receive “NO CREDIT” for enduring your prison term because you did wrong in the first place.
.
On the other hand, if a man is unjustly accused or suffers for doing good and he “endures” whatever pain, rebuking, suffering in humility then he is to be commended in God’s eye. That person will surely be favored in God’s eye and receive his mercy and grace.
.
Be humble in your suffering, continue to be conscious of God and continue to give honor to God….typically, commendable acts get rewarded….
.
Remember, it takes a long time to grow old friends…
