Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.
JMR's Words Of Wisdom
A little something to give you a different perspective of the term generous. When we think of the term “generous” most of us immediately think about $$$. We conclude that being generous corresponds to the amount of money that we give to another.
.
But I propose to you that being “generous” can take on an entirely different meaning. What if you looked at the word generous and related it to your TIME. I contend that Timothy had this in mind in the above verses.
.
God wants us to do good and be generous with our time. It is my belief that time is our most valuable commodity and its effects are far more lasting than giving money. Now of course, sometimes money may have a more immediate effect (if someone is in need) but spending time with someone has a long-term effect that cannot be tangibly measured.
.
Think about some of the best times in your life and I bet it was had without a great amount money but rather happened when spending time with friends, family, or loved ones.
.
I pose to you, could you be more generous with your time?
