God’s Favor

Bible Verse: 2 Cor 6: 1 - 10

As God’s fellow workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain. For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation. We put no stumbling block in anyone’s path, so that our ministry will not be discredited. Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger; in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left; through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors; known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything..

JMR's Words Of Wisdom

Apologize for the long scripture, well not really. Was listening to the radio recently and the discussion was about God’s favor. Found a scripture where Paul was explaining to the Corinthians how God shows us favor even in times of trouble.
How many times have we heard someone tell us in a bad situation, “it could be worse.”? Those words sometimes roll off our back or go in one ear and out the other. We are not really concerned at that time about things being worse rather how things are bad currently…
But take a moment to realize how powerful that statement really is. God shields us from so much each and every day with his mercy and grace. God shows us favor in so many countless ways. Paul realized this notion and attempts to convey it to the Corinthians. Paul provides a short list of the things he has endured: troubles, hardships and distresses; in beatings, imprisonments and riotsbut God continues to show him favor even in the midst of these trials.
Be thankful each day for the favor that God shows each of us.
As always, remember it takes a long time to grow old friends…
