Bible Verse: Mark 3: 14-17

As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him. While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and “sinners” were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the “sinners” and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and ‘sinners’?” On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

JMR's Words Of Wisdom

For who are we to judge lest ye be judged. These verses I find apply to many so-called Christians in the church. Many of us seem to forget that we were not always saved and living in a righteous manner. In fact, some of us are still trying to get our foot entirely out of the secular world. Many times, people in the church are quick to dismiss those that are still living life according to the secular world.
But Christ clearly points out in a clear and concise statement, “it is not the healthy who need a doctor.” I believe Christ is implying that he sits and eats with sinners because they are the ones that need His attention and Word the most. We’ve all heard the term preaching to the choir. Christ says I want to reach those not in choir. Christ wants us to branch out into our communities and social circles and witness to others.
In my opinion, a Christian by definition should want to help his fellow man. How can a Christian seclude himself and only deal with people in the church and not reach out to his fellow man that he knows in living for the world.
So, I encourage you to inquire from your fellow man, “Are you in church?” No preaching, no condemnation, no lectures, just a simple question. If the answer is no, ask him to join you one day.
Remember, it takes a long time to grow old friends…
