Passing Judgment

Bible Verse: Rom 2:1-3 (NIV)

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. So when you, a mere human, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment?

JMR's Words Of Wisdom

Paul dropping gems once again….
.
I know there are times where I have been guilty of passing judgement on others. We have all heard the term, “those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.” In the text, Paul is once again dishing out the knowledge to the church. Sometimes, I get the impression that Paul was attacking the church but then I realize he was giving them specific instruction on what NOT to do and what to be aware of.
.
Paul tells the church that no man should pass judgement on another especially if he is doing the same thing. Since Paul is directing his comments to the church I’ll make the assumption that he is talking directly to church authorities (priest, pastors, deacons, elders and alike).
.
It becomes the height of hypocrisy to call out another man from the pulpit or any church position of authority and then be doing the same behind the cloak of the church. How can you preach morality, yet be immoral behind closed doors. How can you preach love and patience and be unloving and impatient?
.
Paul warns in the next few verses, Rom 2:4 and 5, that you are storing up the wrath of God come judgement day.
.
So what does this mean for us in today’s society, hold your judgement lest yea be judged. A difficult task when we see such atrocities committed daily.
.
Just know that God judges the just and unjust in time… say less
.
Remember, it takes a long time to grow old friends…Be blessed
