Persevere thru Trials

Bible Verse: Matt 26: 39-42

Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will. Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.” He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.”

JMR's Words Of Wisdom

Many times, in life we find ourselves in situations or trials that we strive to get out of for various reasons. I, myself, have been in this position many times. Struggling to find various avenues to alleviate or circumvent the trial. Trying 10 different things only to find the trial is still there or sometimes made worse by my actions.
.
The text here should be familiar. Jesus and the disciples are at the garden and Jesus asks God several times to remove this cup from him.
.
The key element in Jesus’ request is that he knows the upcoming suffering (i.e. trial) and he asks that the “cup” be taken away, if possible. The second time Jesus makes this request he ask if it is not possible then let YOUR will be done. Stop right there….
.
Jesus knowing the suffering that he would have to endure still was willing to endure and go THRU the trial, having full confidence that glory was on the other side of the trial.
.
We have to start looking at things from Jesus eyes. Our trials and tribulations are there for a reason. Either to build our character or prepare us for something greater upcoming. If God only wants us to prosper, and we believe that, then we should also believe that there is no trial/tribulation that we go thru that is not for a greater good to benefit us.
.
Although we may not like what we have to go thru, continue to praise and give God the glory in the midst of your trial and watch how blessed you are after you persevere thru it! In letting God’s WILL be done we can never go wrong….
.
Remember, it takes a long time to grow old friends…
