In the surrounding text Jesus is preaching to the people about how things are to be done in your life regarding charity, humility, pray, fasting, hording, and worry (clothing, eating).
The over-arching principle being spoken of here is put all your TRUST in God’s hands and he will provide for all your needs. God wants us to lean on him and not to our own understanding. Not all things are meant for us to understand and therefore it is our faith that sustains us when our own understanding falls short. If we seek God’s kingdom and live righteously, nothing will be withheld from us.
Jesus tells us do not worry about things that we cannot change. Matt 6: 26-27 is such a powerful prelude to our topic of today. It clearly reiterates the primary point that God will provide. If God provides for birds and we are much more valuable than birds surely, He will provide for our needs.
If we put God first in our lives, we will be taken care of more abundantly than the birds in the air.
As usual, Remember, it’s a long time to grow old friends.
