Self Seeking

Bible Verse: Rom 2:6-11

God “will give to each person according to what he has done.” To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For God does not show favoritism

JMR's Words Of Wisdom

There is a phrase I have heard many times, “What goes around comes around.” Often this term is used for someone who does another wrong and thinks they have gotten away scott-free. We tell ourselves they will get theirs in the end. Well, those sentiments can also be attributed to how God deals with us. In the text, Paul is warning the Romans sternly about how they will answer for their actions.

.

Paul tells us that EACH person will be dealt with according to what they have done. Paul clearly warns that those who are self-seeking, reject the truth and do evil will suffer the wrath and anger of God.

.

If this is true, then we as Christians should not have the word “revenge” in our vocabulary. Those that do evil will eventually be dealt with more harshly than man can ever punish. Our best course of action is to continue to live righteously and honorably in God’s eye until we are judged. As 2PAC said, “Only God Can Judge Me…”
