Tempted

Bible Verse: James 1: 13-16

When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers

JMR's Words Of Wisdom

This topic was brought up in conversations I had surrounding scandals. The question came up about God setting up the circumstance for these horrible scandals.
.
I’ve had previous conversations with some learned folks regarding freewill and whether we truly have freewill. I’ve questioned it to some degree as a devil’s advocate but ultimately, I do believe man has free will.
.
James clearly has some thoughts on this topic and perhaps how it relates to temptation. Bottom-line, God does not waste his time trying to tempt man with evil.
.
Another way to say it, is it is beneath God to bother with such foolishness.
.
James states that God does not tempt anyone by his own means. It is by our own evil desires that we are tempted and enticed. Once we act on this desire, we give way to sin.
.
So, I urge you to resist temptation and pray for strength.
.
Remember, it takes a long time to grow old friends…..
