A very interesting point that Luke mentions in these few verses regarding TRUST and how he relates it to spiritual trust (true riches). Luke is illustrating how trust grows, starting with small things and expands to greater trust after proving oneself.
.
The example is one that is easy to understand. If one is not trustworthy with small items how will someone trust you with big items. If I let you borrow my lawnmower and you break, lose, destroy it; do you think I will loan you my car?
.
But Luke takes it a step further contrasting not being trustworthy in “worldly wealth” to an incredulous who will “dare” trust you with “true riches”. When I read this, I related worldly wealth to being good stewards of our finances, time, experiences, and knowledge…etc… Have we shared with others, looked out for others, treated others fair.
.
Luke is posing the question, “who will trust you with true riches?” What are “true riches“, God’s love, mercy and grace…. Is it salvation, eternal life, or heavenly treasures? Whatever it may be, obviously, Luke values it more than worldly riches.
.
Sometimes we pray for a certain thing and don’t receive it. Is it because God cannot trust us to have that “thing” at that time?
.
Is it because we have to grow in some aspect of our lives before we are ready to be trusted to handle the responsibility.
.
So, I pose this to you, are you trustworthy enough for God to bless us?
