Understanding

I relate the scripture to the above text by suggesting that God wants us to understand his word and apply it to our lives. He doesn’t want us explaining, justifying or trying to convince Him why we did something or the rationale behind it. He wants us to seek his word first and then apply it appropriately.

In the scripture, it appears David has come to a revelation. He acknowledges his ways and shortcomings, but he asks for understanding on how he should meditate on God’s precepts (a general rule intended to regulate behavior or thought). I take “meditate” to mean study the word, bury it in his heart and apply as necessary.

I believe that is a formula for success. study, bury then apply….
